This $69 portable display is ideal for travel…and Switch gaming
A portable monitor is becoming an increasingly useful accessory — and one of the most popular mobile displays on Amazon is nearly half off for Prime Day. KYY’s portable 15.6-inch 1080p mobile display is just $69.98 on Amazon for Prime Day, which is an outstanding deal for a display that wasn’t too expensive in the first place. KYY’s display already sells more than 10,000 units per month, according to Amazon, with over 10,000 ratings assigning it an aggregate score of 4.4 out of 5 stars. Mobile computing is increasingly turning to mobile displays while on the road — but so is mobile gaming. A number of the KYY display buyers are hooking up their Nintendo Switch (or the Nintendo Switch 2) or another handheld gaming device. The idea is that you’re still free to game where you’d like, but not be tied to a particular room or TV. The display weighs 1.7 pounds, and features a faux-leather cover that serves to protect the display and doubles as a kickstand. KYY’s display includes both a USB-C input as well as a mini-HDMI port, giving you some choice in terms of power and inputs. It does include a separate charger, but it appears that it can be powered by the USB-C bus as well, provided that your laptop or other device supplies power over the port. (If you don’t need a mini-HDMI port, there’s a 15.6-inch 1080p portable monitor from MNN for $59.97 — who names these things? — which is 33 percent off for Prime Day.) While KYY’s display includes internal speakers, I’m sure your own earbuds will provide better sound quality than this portable monitor supplies. The monitor features a matte screen, which should allow it to be used in a variety of locations without glare. For some reason, Amazon is offering an “upgraded” version of this display for $75.98 (28 percent off) but I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two. You’d probably be better off buying the cheaper model with the better savings. Enjoy your gaming!
